Returning Home A Winner
by Louise Cutler
A lot of thoughts go through ones head when setting up for
the Artexpo in New York.
The biggest, will I make back what I’ve spent out?
The answer, maybe, maybe not.
If you can't live with that, don't go.
Then the question becomes, why am I here and what is it that I really
want to accomplish?
Really being the key word.
If it's all about money, trust me you can make that on a job quicker.
Rick Barnett said something the first day at his seminar during the Artexpo this year that stood out for me and stuck.
He stated "look at these four days as a marathon not a sprint".
You have to stay energized till the end.
As an artist I find these are words to live by.
I can say this because I have tried the sprint method. I have looked for the secret formula
and it all boils down to this,
Work hard, perfect your craft, invest in your work, stay focused, and persevere.
Run the race
My work speaks for itself. To me presentation is everything, from my framing to my clothing I want to represent my work with simplicity and elegance.
I am always looking at ways to improve my craft and at how I present my work to the world.
I feel an artist must evolve or die
Bronzes are my latest form of evolution.
I now recreate my two dimensional painting style into three dimensional bronze works of art
I am an evolver and my work reflects my evolution
The Artexpo was amazing for me this year.
I met some outstanding artists and made some new friends
I met some outstanding artists and made some new friends
sat in on some unforgettable seminars, conversed with people that are leaders in their field
and won a major award. That was pretty cool.
